LIMA, Ohio – Cornerstone trailed by only six entering the fourth quarter, but the host Racers opened the final 10 minutes on a 9-0 run to open a 15-point lead which turned into a 71-57 setback for the Golden Eagles. The second straight loss of the week on the road drops CU to to 14-11 overall and 12-6 in league action. Cornerstone will play a third straight game away from Mol Arena next Wednesday at Concordia.
Game Flow
Offense was the story in the opening half as each team seemed to click but it was the Racers who took the early lead as they went into the locker room leading 33-32. The 32 points for CU were only eight short of what they had all of Wednesday night at Siena Heights.
After CU took a 40-38 lead on a 3-point play from Ellery Mast (SO/Zeeland, Mich.) just 4:23 into the second half, UNOH closed out the quarter by scoring 16 of the last 24 points to lead 54-48. That run continued into the final 10 minutes as the Racers scored nine straight to open up a 15-point lead in which they never looked back.
