Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | @n_jcamp

Strong second half helps Women’s Soccer salvage a tie

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Cornerstone was able to score two goals in the span of three minutes that proved crucial in salvaging a 2-2 tie at Indiana Tech. The Golden Eagles end a two game losing streak with the tie, moving their record to 6-4-2, 2-2-1 WHAC on the year. CU will now take eight days off for fall break before continuing a three game road trip at Siena Heights next Saturday.

Game Flow...
Indiana Tech controlled much of the first half, scoring the only goal in the 31st minute on a header by Kayla Saffran.

The offense irrupted in the second half for both sides, as three goals were scored within the span of six minutes. Cornerstone started the second half scoring with a one-touch goal by Phoebe LaCroix off the assist from Savannah Petty that tied the game at one. Just three minutes later, Ericka Mick scored on a header again off an assist from Petty, giving CU a 2-1 lead. The Warriors then capped off the second half scoring with a goal in the 69th minute on a header of their own from Tori Singstock that tied the game at two.

The offense settled down for both sides as overtime got underway. Fatigue started to set in and neither team could find a quality opportunity in either of the two overtimes, resulting in a 2-2 final score.

Inside the Box....
