Season concludes in 1-0 loss to Concordia

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In a cold and rainy night, the Golden Eagles could not find the net as the five seeded Concordia Cardinals downed four seed Cornerstone 1-0 in the WHAC quarterfinal. The season will come to an end now for CU, as they finish with a 10-7-2, 5-4-1 WHAC record. Concordia will move on to the conference semifinal to face the top seeded Northwestern Ohio Racers on Saturday.

Game Flow...
The first half was very balanced, as Cornerstone recorded seven shots and Concordia recorded six. The difference in the half was a goal by CUAA leading scorer Julia Palushaj that bounced off the crossbar and in from just outside the 18-yard box. Samantha Golchuk tallied the assist on the goal, giving Concordia the 1-0 lead going into the break.

The Cardinals clamped down on the defensive end in the second half, doing anything they could to hold on to the 1-0 lead. CUAA allowed just two shots to the Golden Eagles, while finding five more shots of their own in the second half. The rain picked up in the second half and affected the comeback efforts of Cornerstone, as they fell 1-0 in regulation.
