Claire Niergarth and
Jesse Sheridan both posted career lows for 36 holes on day one of the 2017 WHAC Championships at Stonehedge North and South. Cornerstone finished 10th after two rounds as they will finish out their 2016-17 season on Saturday with 18 more in the final round. Indiana Tech leads the tourney by two shots over Northwestern Ohio.
The women's golf team got four solid rounds from junior
Claire Niergarth and sophomore
Jesse Sheridan on Day 1 of the conference tournament. Niergarth fired a career-best 18-hole score of 87 in the second round which helped her finish with a 36-hole low of 178 (91-87). Sheridan posted both rounds under 100 for the first time in her career for a 36-hole day as she went 97-98 for a total of 195.
Monica Anderson (109-114) and
Breona Wilson (163-154) were the other two scorers for Cornerstone as they are in 10th place after Day 1. Indiana Tech leads the event with a two-round total of 612 and they are followed by UNOH (614) and Lawrence Tech (616). No other team is within 24 shots of the third place Blue Devils.
