Last Week Recap
The Golden Eagles opened the 2018-19 campaign with a couple tough non-conference losses, falling 81-69 at Trinity Christian and 68-51 in the home opener vs. Grace College. CU now starts the year 0-2 for the second consecutive season as they get set for three games between Tuesday and next week Monday.

Nyboer Career High
Sophomore Shelby Nyboer recorded a career high in points in her first game of her second season with 19 at Trinity Christian. Nyboer's previous high was 18 against Calvin College in the 2017-18 season. In the first two games of the year, Nyboer is averaging a team second best 12 points per game to go along with a team best seven rebounds a game.

Modderman Career High
Sophomore Brooke Modderman has a much bigger role in 2018-19, being one of the first Golden Eagles off the bench. Modderman took advantage of her increased role tallying a career high 10 rebounds at Trinity Christian. In just 76 minutes last season, Modderman never recorded more than one rebound in a game but she has blown past those totals so far in 2018-19.

Turnover Bug
CU committed 34 turnovers at Trinity Christian in the season opener but was able to improve that number down to just 12 turnovers against Grace College.

Scouting Indiana Wesleyan
Indiana Wesleyan has been one of the best basketball programs in the past 15 years and yet again they sit in the NAIA DII Preseason top 25, ranking 15th to begin the year. IWU opened the year with one of the tougher schedules in the NAIA, falling to the number one team in the country in Concordia (Neb.) and the number 22 team in the country Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.). The Wildcats rely on their defense holding opponents to just 17.5% behind the arc. Senior Nicole Ignasiak leads Indiana Wesleyan with 10.5 PPG and 8.0 RPG so far in 2018-19.

Scouting Huntington
Huntington is receiving votes in the 2018-19 NAIA DII preseason poll as they will open their season on Tuesday at No. 9 Indiana Tech. The Foresters return four of the teams five starters from last season including the leading scorer Sarah Fryman and the leader in assists and rebounds in Brooke Saylor. Huntington defeated Cornerstone by five just last season.

Scouting Grace Christian
Formerly Grace Bible College and now Grace Christian University, comes into the 2018-19 season coming off an 11-16 record in 2017-18. Grace has a young team with just two seniors. The Tigers have yet to play a game this season but will open on Tuesday vs. another WHAC opponent in Lourdes University. Cornerstone played Grace twice last season and won both games by double-digits.
