GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles are set to play in their first WHAC Tournament Semifinal since the 2014-15 season as they will travel to NAIA DII No. 20 Lawrence Tech on Saturday at 6 p.m. LTU comes off a quarterfinal win of Siena Heights while Cornerstone comes off an upset victory over the three seed Aquinas on Thursday. Scouting Lawrence Tech
Lawrence Tech has recorded their best season in program history, holding a 25-5, 16-4 WHAC record. Second year head coach Kylene Spiegel and the Blue Devils have secured the two-seed entering the WHAC tournament while ranking 20th in the latest NAIA Division II poll. Junior Nicole Buckingham leads the team with 17.3 PPG, while senior Hayley Walkowski is the team leader with 6.5 RPG to go along with her 14.2 PPG. Buckingham and Walkowski each earned All-WHAC First Team honors this season.
Lawrence Tech WHAC Tournament History
LTU is in the conference tournament for the fourth time in the programs six years of basketball. The Blue Devils have qualified for the WHAC Tournament each of the last four years, making the finals once, and the semifinals twice. Lawrence Tech has yet to earn a WHAC Tournament Championship, as they fell to the top seed Davenport in their one finals appearance by a score of 78-61 in 2015-16.

The Golden Eagles have split this season vs. the Blue Devils, winning 65-54 at Lawrence Tech earlier this season and losing 79-67 at home on senior day.
Cass Vredevoogd was the leading scorer in the first appearance with 17 points, while
Jesse Sheridan scored a Golden Eagle high 21 in the second matchup. Nicole Buckingham led the Blue Devils in scoring in each matchup, with 15 the first game and 27 in the second.

Katie Mattera has been dominant against LTU in her six years as coach, posting a 9-3 record all-time. Cornerstone won the first six matchups ever vs. Lawrence Tech and have now split the last six, going 3-3.
Sheridan 11 Away
Jesse Sheridan scored 33 points last week to put her 10 points from tying and 11 from earning eighth all-time in scoring in CU program history. Sheridan's career is coming to an end with just the WHAC Tournament games remaining, and she has tallied 1,482 total points. Jandi Hillaker (1991-95) is currently eighth in program history with 1,492 career points.
WHAC Tournament Outlook
A pair of upsets occurred in the WHAC quarterfinal, as No. 6 Cornerstone defeated No. 3 Aquinas and No. 5 Concordia defeated No. 4 Rochester. The top seeded Indiana Tech Warriors did their job defeating No. 8 Madonna, while No. 2 Lawrence Tech also took care of business against No. 7 Siena Heights. The WHAC Tournament semifinal matchups are set in stone now, as the top seed Indiana Tech Warriors will host No. 5 Concordia and No. 2 Lawrence Tech will host No. 6 Cornerstone. Both games will take place Saturday, February 24.
