Women’s Soccer scores season high five goals to win third straight match

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone irrupted for a season high five goals (two in the first half and three in the second half) to earn a 5-1 victory over the Grace Christian Tigers on Tuesday evening. Freshman Kylie Adams scored her first collegiate goal for the Golden Eagles, being one of the four CU players to put the ball in the net on the night. CU has now won three straight to move to 3-1-0 on the year, as they get set to conclude a four game homestand vs. Saint Francis of Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. 

What you need to know
  • Grace Christian scored just seven minutes into the game on a breakaway by Maddie Brown to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • Kylie Adams scored her first collegiate goal just 7:23 later on a shot from the left side of the box to tie the game up at 1-1. 
  • Grace Christian scored an own goal in the 34thminute to give CU a 2-1 lead. 
  • Cornerstone dominated the second half, as Erica Mick got things started with a goal off the far post and in from the right corner flag to make it 3-1. 
  • Alexys Riksen then came in after suffering an injury last game and scored her third goal of the year on a deep shot well outside the box that went over the Tigers goalkeeper. 
  • Phoebe LaCroix put the cherry on top of the scoring with a goal in the 73rdminute to give the Golden Eagles a 5-1 victory over Grace Christian.
  • Abby Workman played all 90 minutes in net tonight recording two saves.
