Women's Basketball defeated by Concordia in 2019 Opener

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles returned to Mol Arena for the first time in four weeks on Wednesday to host Concordia in a battle of 1-7 WHAC teams. The Cardinals hit seven three-pointers in the first half en route to a convincing 83-48 victory over Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles (2-17 overall, 1-8 WHAC) will prepare for another WHAC match next week Wednesday at Michigan-Dearborn, who is currently ranked 22nd in the NAIA. Tip off is slated for 5:30 p.m.

What you need to know:

  • Cornerstone jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first minute, but Concordia quickly took the lead and never looked back.
  • Concordia scored 13 points in a span of 2:49 in the first quarter.
  • The Cardinals tallied 14 points off turnovers in both the second and third quarters.
  • Cornerstone pulled down a season-high 33 defensive rebounds.
