For the fourth time this seson, the Golden Eagles matched up with an opponent either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA as they faced #13 Saint Francis. Cornerstone fought valianty, with the first quarter ending tied at 21-21 between the two squads. CU was unable to keep that momentum going in the remaining three quarters and ended up falling 79-45. Broghan Gamble continued to shoot the ball well for Cornerstone, putting up 15 of the team's 45 points on 5/8 shooting.
CU also welcomed Trinity Christian College to Mol Arena this past week. The Golden Eagles started strong and carried a 52-43 lead into the fourth quarter but were overwhelmed by an offensive barrage from the Trolls of Trinity Christian. TCC put up 30 points in the 4th quarter, locking Cornerstone down and holding them to just 10 points in the final quarter.
Rebekah Crosby posted her second double-double of the year for CU, tallying 16 points and grabbing 10 boards in Cornerstone's 72-63 loss.
Scouting Lawrence Tech
The Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech are flying high after defeating #RV Indiana Wesleyan 75-61 last week to move to 4-2 on the season. Lawrence Tech has three players averaging double figures this year, with guard Kendall Fisher at 15.2, guard Teryn Kline at 12.0, and forward Danielle Hanson at 11.3. The Blue Devils are a strong defensive team, holding their opponents to 56.7 points a contest, while scoring an average of 65.8. With both teams opening their WHAC schedules in this contest, expect an intense, competitive matchup.
