Last Week Recap

A tough stretch of WHAC games proved too much to handle for the Golden Eagles, as they dropped a pair of games to #14 Siena Heights and UM-Dearborn.

Cornerstone opened the week with a home matchup against the Saints of Siena Heights as heavy underdogs. Unfortunately, CU was unable to pull off the upset thanks to a strong night by the Saints front court of Peyton Banks and Demi Russell. The duo combined for 31 points as Siena Heights ran away late with an 82-46 victory.

The Golden Eagles looked to bounce back against UM-Dearborn, after losing a close one to them earlier in the year. However, the Wolverines seemed to have all the answers, especially down the stretch. UM-Dearborn held CU to 4 points in the fourth quarter, while tallying 22 of their own to close out a dominant 69-41 win.

Scouting #13 Indiana Tech

The Warriors of Indiana Tech will be a difficult matchup for the Golden Eagles this Wednesday. At #13 in the country, the Warriors are 18-4 on the season and 12-1 in the WHAC.

IT is an offensive juggernaut, averaging nearly 80 points a game. Four of their five starters average 12+ points a game. They are led by DeAnn Kauffman, who has been awarded WHAC Player of the Week three times this season. The senior guard is averaging 16 points a contest, while shooting 43.5% from the field.

Scouting Madonna University

The Madonna University Crusaders will come to Mol Arena this Saturday, looking to avenge their loss to CU earlier in the year. After a huge upset over #25 Lawrence Tech at the start of the month, Madonna has been slumping. At the time of writing, the Crusaders are looking to shake off a five-game losing streak.

On paper the Golden Eagles and Crusaders are very closely matched, with similar averages in shooting percentages, rebounds, and assists. Madonna is the only WHAC victory for CU this season.
