GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles saw a multitude of athletes earn honors from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) this week as CU swept the men's and women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week awards as well as the men's and women's cross country Runner of the Week awards.
Roberto Razo – Grand Rapids, Mich.
Junior
Roberto Razo won his first ever WHAC Offensive Player of the Week award after competing in his second game after returning from injury last season and recording a goal and an assist in a 5-0 route of Concordia. Razo is tied for the team lead in points with three through the first two games as the Golden Eagles are 1-1 on the year and 1-1 in conference play.
Laura Helder – Hamilton, Mich.
Similarly to Razo, sophomore
Laura Helder competed in her second game as a Golden Eagle after being out all last year with injury and recorded a goal and an assist. Her goal was the first of her career and was an overtime game winner in the 96
th minute to push CU to 2-0 with a 3-2 win vs. Concordia in the home opener.
Luke Pohl – Plymouth, Mich.
For the second consecutive week, sophomore
Luke Pohl has been named the WHAC Runner of the Week. Pohl won the Bethel Invite individually and led the Golden Eagles to a team first place finish with a time of 25:41 in the 8k. Pohl has led CU in all four meets so far this season.
Nygia Pollard – Elgin, Ill.
Junior
Nygia Pollard tallied her third WHAC Runner of the Week award as she has swept all of them through the first three weeks of the season after a third-place individual finish at the Fall Bethel Pilot Invite. She also led the team to a third-place finish at the event, finishing in the top 10 individually for the third time this season.
