Grace Christian, Mount Vernon up next for Women's Basketball

Cornerstone hits the road this week for two more non-conference road games, with cross-town opponent Grace Christian on Monday before making a trip to Ohio to take on Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday afternoon. This week's competitions are the last two non-conference games before a trio of WHAC games for CU, starting with Rochester on Tuesday, November 17.

Cornerstone was able to grind out a 65-62 win at Spring Arbor on Tuesday. After trailing by 10 points with 4:25 to go, the Golden Eagles ended the game on a 16-3 run to win it. The win was their second of the season, both of which came down to the wire.

Allyson Richards led the way with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Maddison Fulks followed with a season high 14 points.

The Golden Eagles then suffered a 107-59 setback at Taylor on Saturday to drop their record to 2-3.

Layna Steele scored 15 points in the loss.

Scouting Grace Christian

The Tigers share the same 2-3 overall record as the Golden Eagles, with both of their wins coming against Welch College this past weekend. GCU has a mutual opponent with Cornerstone, as they fell 69-61 to Spring Arbor.

Grace Christian has three players averaging double figures, with Megan George (16.4), Bre VanVleet (13.4), and Emily Libey (10.6) leading the team.

Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene

Mount Vernon is still in search for their first victory of the season and currently sits at 0-2 overall. MVNU fell to Rochester in a tight 84-83 contest in the season opener, and then put up a solid fight against #22 Indiana Tech but came up short 73-65.

The Cougars will face off against Madonna on November 11 before hosting Cornerstone.

Riley Pireu leads the way with 19 points per game this season, headlined by a 30-point performance against Rochester.

History against this week's opponents

Cornerstone has prevailed in each of the last five contests against Grace Christian, including a 68-56 win at Aldrich Athletic Center last January.

The Golden Eagles have never met with Mount Vernon Nazarene, making Saturday afternoon's contest the first between the two schools.
