Men's Tennis responds with 6-1 win against Eastern Nazarene

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - For the fourth consecutive time, Cornerstone has played a match that ended 6-1 going 2-2 in those matches. Fortunately this time CU was on the winning end as they defeated Eastern Nazarene College at Hilton Head Tennis Center in South Carolina to move to 5-3 on the year. CU won the point in doubles before going five for six in some close singles matches to earn the win on Monday morning. Cornerstone will play No. 19 Coastal Carolina tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. as they continue their spring break trip. 

Doubles Results
Cornerstone saw some good fortunes in the doubles matches as Aliaksei Kanstantsinau and Mateo Jimenez wom 8-3 at the top spot. John Cocoma and Tomas Yacuizo lost in a tie breaker, leaving it down to the freshman Matthew Hall and Tanner Howard to earn the match that would decide who earned the first point of the match. Eastern Nazarene had to retire at number three doubles due to injury which gave CU the doubles victory to go on top 1-0. 

Singles Results
In singles, all five of the top seeds for CU won, but three of those five went to three sets. Aliaksei Kanstantsinau and Tanner Howard were the only players to win in straight sets going 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 7-5 respectively. Tomas Yacuzio won a thriller at number four singles winning a tie breaker 7-5 in set one before losing a tie breaker 7-3 in set two. Yacuzio went on to dominate set three, 10-2. 

CU continues spring break with their only ranked opponent of the trip in number 19 Coastal Carolina tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
