GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles traveled down the road to Calvin University on Thursday afternoon and earned a 7-2 victory for the first in program history against Calvin University. The win helps Cornerstone rebound from a tough loss to Grace last time out and move to 2-1 on the year. The team was able to win two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to win 7-2. CU does not have any other fall matches planned at this time. Doubles Results
The depth of the Golden Eagles roster proved vital in doubles play after the top flight of
Alayna Bowman and
Hanna De La Vega Sanchez went down 8-4. The duo of
Valentina Garcia and
Trinity Klamecki dominated at the second flight with an 8-1 win.
Katarina Vasiljkovic and
Nicole VerHulst were also able to get a win at the third flight, winning 8-6.
Singles Results
In singles play, the top three Golden Eagle flights earned wins including a 6-0, 6-0 win from
Alayna Bowman.
Hanna De La Vega Sanchez was one of two games to go to a third set and she earned the win 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.
Katarina Vasiljkovic and
Nicole VerHulst each got wins at the number five and six singles position as well to help CU to a 7-2 win over the Knights.
