Senior Day
Senior Day was initially scheduled on Monday, October 25 vs. Grace Christian, but due to the weather Head Coach
Randy Strawser and the Golden Eagles decided to move the date to their final home game vs. Lourdes. CU will honor six seniors on Saturday in manager Kaley Kaminski as well as
Kylie Adams,
Taylor Adams,
Julie Gouilliart,
Madison Radcliffe, and
Alyssa Visser.
Rau Hat Trick
Freshman
Arianna Rau quickly went from four career goals to seven after a hat trick on Monday night vs. Grace Christian. Rau is just the third CU player since 2014 to record a hat trick, doing so for the first time since October 30, 2019 when Alexys Risken scored three goals. Rau scored the only three goals in the match as well as Cornerstone won 3-1 on Monday evening.
WHAC Outlook
Cornerstone sits in ninth in the WHAC right now and needs wins in the final week to qualify for the top eight and the WHAC Tournament. Wednesday's match at Lawrence Tech is a battle between the two teams that sit eighth and ninth in the WHAC. If CU loses to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, they will be eliminated from conference tournament contention.
Scouting Lawrence Tech
The Blue Devils sit in eighth in the WHAC with a record of 5-7-3, 2-4-2 on the year. Last time out, LTU was held scoreless in a 0-0 tie, their second scoreless tie in the last three games. Junior DiOnna Hill has been the Blue Devils leader on offense with a team high seven goals and three assists. Defensively, four different LTU players have played in net, with senior Rebecca Almandoz getting the majority of the minutes with 814.
Scouting Lourdes
Lourdes has had an outstanding year after a 5-11, 1-8 record in 2020, as they are 7-3-6, 4-2-3 WHAC on the year. The key to the Gray Wolves success this season has been the ability to hang with any team defensively, with only one of their three losses being by more than one goal. Lourdes has done a great job getting to the penalty spot, with five PK's this year converting three of them. LU has three players who have done the damage offensively, as Abigail Mann and Brynn McGarvey each have six goals this year, while Chloe Shaffer has five. Freshman keeper Emmy Rodger has been outstanding in net as well, with a .877 save percentage, 57 saves, and three shutouts.
