Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. – The Golden Eagles continued their first season struggles, falling in straight sets to one of the nation's best in NAIA no. 14 Goshen College. CU fell 25-21, 25-15, 25-17 for their fifth consecutive straight set loss. Cornerstone is now 0-9, 0-6 WHAC as they will continue conference play at Siena Heights on Wednesday, February 27 at 7 p.m.
Game Recap – Goshen – 3 Cornerstone – 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-17)
- The two teams opened the match trading the first six points, as Logan Chagdes recorded two kills in the Golden Eagles first three points.
- The set remained close until Goshen went on a late 3-0 run to make it 18-12.
- After trailing 24-17, Cornerstone rattled off four straight points that saw a pair of kills and a big block from Mitchell Nichols and Cade Meza, but it was too little too late as CU fell 25-21.
- Set two began with six consecutive service errors to tie things at 3-3.
- CU trailed by three, but a David Kerkstra kill tied things at seven.
- Goshen erupted for a 10-3 run to end set two quickly 25-15.
- The Maple Leafs started set three with a 5-1 run highlighted by a service ace.
- Cornerstone cut the deficit to two at 6-4 with a run that saw a Max Hernandez service ace.
- Goshen then took command with a 7-0 run to go on top 13-5.
- A kill from Wahl ended set three in favor of Goshen 25-17, as they won the match in straight sets.
