SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Golden Eagles hit the road for the final time of the 2020-21 regular season on Monday night to take on Lawrence Tech. Cornerstone struggled in the first quarter as the Blue Devils took a commanding 20-3 lead and never looked back as the game ended 87-64. The Golden Eagles will conclude the regular season with a home contest against Rochester inside Mol Arena on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.
Game Flow:
- The Golden Eagles got off to a rough start, shooting just 1-for-14 from the floor in the first quarter for a total of three points, while Lawrence Tech shot 9-for-12 for 20 points.
- Teryn Kline of Lawrence Tech went 5-for-5 from beyond the arc in the second quarter alone, propelling the Blue Devils to a comfortable 44-21 lead at halftime.
- Cornerstone came out of halftime with a 9-0 spark, including three buckets from Shelby Nyboer, to cut the deficit to just 14 points with 7:35 to play in the third quarter.
- A layup from Lawrence Tech in the closing seconds of the third quarter reestablished a 20-point advantage over Cornerstone, 59-39.
- Sterling DeGayner hit a pair of three-pointers in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter.
- Maddison Fulks went off for 13 points in the final 3:51 of the game, including a trio of three-pointers.
- Lawrence Tech closed out the game on top 87-64.
