Men's Volleyball to conclude season with Trinity Christian, Goshen

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles (2-19, 0-11) are set to conclude their inaugural season this weekend with a road match at Trinity Christian on Friday night and a home contest against Goshen on Saturday afternoon. Both matches will have live stats and video available with links at cugoldeneagles.com and next to the schedule below.

COVID-19 Fan Policy Reminder
Reminder that Cornerstone is continuing with the two fans per home athlete/coach guest policy for the time being with no visiting fans. To enter the matches, your name must be on the pass list. CU is also requiring that masks be worn at all times in the facility and are asking for families to physically distance from anyone not in their immediate family group. 

Cornerstone Notes
Four seniors will be recognized for Senior Day prior to the match against Goshen on Saturday: Logan Chagdes, David Kerkstra, Silvio Rodriguez, and Mitchell Nichols. Cade Meza leads the team with 1.92 kills per set. Max Hernandez has racked up 424 assists this season (6.24 per set). Defensively, Jacob Brinks leads the team with 54 total blocks while Alex Hekman leads the team with 113 total digs.

Trinity Christian Notes
Trinity enters the week with a 13-4 overall record and has won nine of its last 10 contests. In the 11 matches played inside their home stadium the Trolls have an 8-3 record. The team is averaging 11.3 kills per set while hitting at a .253 clip. The Trolls are 7th in the NAIA with 2.26 blocks per set. 6-foot-8 junior Jake Ostema leads the NAIA in blocks per set with 1.33. Alex Costa ranks fourth in the nation with 36 total service aces. Costa also leads the team with 185 kills this season (3.25 per set). 

Goshen Notes
Goshen enters the week with a 14-8 overall, 6-5 WHAC record and is receiving votes in the latest Top 15 NAIA poll. In the eight road matches this season, the team is an even 4-4. The Maple Leafs have swept the Golden Eagles twice this season, including a 25-7, 25-13, 25-15 match to begin the season on January 16 and a 25-21, 25-15, 25-17 sweep on February 20. Alexander Rabadzhiev ranks second in the nation with 37 total service aces and fourth in the nation with 291 total kills. As a team, the Maple Leafs are hitting at a .220 clip.
