Scouting Lancaster Bible College
The Chargers have a 7-3 overall record and have won each of their last five contests. The team is ranked 13th at the NCAA D3 level. Lancaster is yet to lose on their home court, boasting a 6-0 record so far this season. The Chargers are averaging 10.5 kills per set and are hitting at a .219 clip. Kyran Flahive is averaging 2.5 kills per set this season, while setter Reuben Kemrer is averaging 8.7 assists per set.
Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene
MVNU enters this week with a 4-6 overall record. The Cougars are a familiar opponent to the Golden Eagles as the teams have already met twice this season, although this time will be a non-conference contest. Mount Vernon defeated Cornerstone 3-0 both meetings this season, most recently February 19 inside Mol Arena. Like the Golden Eagles, MVNU’s schedule this year has mostly consisted of highly ranked foes in the WHAC. The team’s 11.7 digs per set this season ranks 5th in the NAIA. Spencer Stanley leads the team with 3.1 kills per set. Setter Jayson Matsumoto ranks 20th in the nation with 8.5 assists per game.
Scouting Carlow
Like Cornerstone, Carlow is in their first season as a program. They have only played two matches all season, and three weeks will have passed between matches by the time they take on Cornerstone on Saturday. The team’s first ever contest was against 3rd-ranked Campbellsville, where they fell in straight sets (7-25, 15-25, 15-25). Russ Cyprowski leads the team in kills as he accounts for 20 of the team’s 31 kills this season.
