Last Time Out
Cornerstone needed a win in the regular season finale at Madonna to host a playoff game, and they did just that as
Mya Copado scored on a free kick at the end of the first overtime to give CU the 2-1 victory. Cornerstone finishes the regular season at 5-3-1 overall and will now host Concordia in the four seed vs. five seed game.
WHAC Tournament Outlook
Aquinas won the WHAC Regular Season Title after going a perfect 9-0 in conference play. They will host Lourdes in the 1v8 game. Other games include UNOH hosting Indiana Tech and Madonna hosting Siena Heights. Lawrence Tech would have been the six seed in the tournament but due to COVID issues they have had to cancel and they have concluded their season.
History vs. Concordia
Cornerstone broke a streak of five straight losses to the Cardinals earlier this year winning 3-2 in overtime in Grand Rapids. The two teams have been about as even as you can get over the last 10 matchups, going 4-5-1. All-time, Head Coach
Randy Strawser is 25-5-3, meaning the only five losses came all in a row between 2016 and 2019.
Scouting the Cardinals
CUAA has gone an even 5-5-0 and 5-4-0 in WHAC play as they fell in each of their last two conference games against Madonna and Aquinas. Concorida's biggest win this season came against UNOH who they beat 1-0 on March 9. The Cardinals are great offensively, led by Samantha Golchuk who leads the team with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists. Kendra Lewis has added six goals as the two forwards have combined for 16 of the teams 24 goals this season. Defensively, Concordia will give up some goals as they have allowed 21 this season.
