Women's Basketball concludes road trip at (17) Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Golden Eagles conclude the season's longest road stretch with the WHAC front-runner (17) Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening. CU will tip with the Warriors at 6 p.m. as the team looks to upset a top 25 opponent for the first time since 2018. Last Week Recap

The Golden Eagles fell in two more close games last week after having two near comebacks fall short. The Golden Eagles were down by as many as 30 at UM-Dearborn and fell by two, and they were down by as many as 16 and fell by five. CU is now 3-14, 1-8 WHAC on the year and they have yet to beat a team from the state of Michigan in 2021-22. This week, Cornerstone will have just one game against the WHAC front-runner and number 17 in the country, Indiana Tech. 

Layna Steele Return

Layna Steele hit the floor for the first time this year after suffering a preseason injury and got off to a strong start scoring a career high 21 points at UM-Dearborn in her first game back. In her second game back at Aquinas the growing pains hit in as she did not score and went 0-5 from the field. 

Injury Bug

The Golden Eagles have hit a little bit of the injury bug as Mackenzie Stien and Maddison Fulks have recently suffered injuries. Both players are day-to-day with returns to action yet to be determained. 

Scouting Indiana Tech

The Warriors are having another great season and sit at the top of the WHAC with an 18-2, 10-1 WHAC record to rank 17th in the NAIA. Indiana Tech has a prolific offense, scoring 75.5 PPG at a 44.6% clip. IIT is a veteran team with four players averaging double-figures with three of those seniors and one a junior. In the first meeting of the year, Indiana Tech held the young Golden Eagles to a season low in points and earned an 84-41 victory. Indiana Tech has won nine of their last 10 games with their only conference loss coming to Lawrence Tech on the road, 58-55. 

History vs. Indiana Tech

Cornerstone has lost the last seven consecutive matchups with Indiana Tech since their huge WHAC Tournament Title victory in 2018. The Warriors have held CU to under 50 points in three of the seven games. In Golden Eagle recordable history Cornerstone is 28-22 all-time.
