GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After a great first five minutes by the Golden Eagles the 15
th ranked Saints took over taking a 4-0 victory on their home turf in the 2022 rivalry contest. CU was held to just four shots on the day as they drop to 5-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in WHAC play with five regular season games remaining. The Golden Eagles will begin a stretch at home vs. UNOH on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
What you need to know?
- Jozlyn Vantol nearly shocked Aquinas early with an early shot as she hit the cross bar in the seventh minute.
- Aquinas was dominant from then on recording two early shots that nearly found the net. In the 10th minute they found the net as Sydney Shenk found the net on a pass from Macy Hollingsworth.
- Shelten Cruces recorded the second CU shot in the 15th minute, but it was saved by the Saints.
- Defending WHAC Offensive Player of the Year Hannah Crum scored in the 25th minute to put the Saints up 2-0.
- At the half, Aquinas maintained a 2-0 lead holding Cornerstone to just two shots.
- The second half was all AQ as CU did not record a statistic for the first 11 minutes of the period.
- Despite the Aquinas dominance CU held the deficit to two for much of the second half.
- In the 74th minute, an unlucky bounce resulted in an own goal for the Golden Eagles to make it 3-0.
- AQ added one more in the 87th minute as substitute Brittany Carter found the net to give the Saints a 4-0 victory over the Golden Eagles.
