Women's Soccer falls late to Rochester 3-2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – After one goal was scored in the first 45 minutes of the game, four goals were scored in a matter of 20 minutes as Rochester was able to sneak out of Grand Rapids with a 3-2 victory. It was a cold night that saw little action in the first half, yet both teams came out hot in the second half. After falling down 2-0, Cornerstone found themselves tied up with 25 minutes to play before a Rochester goal off a corner kick was just enough for the Warriors to win. Cornerstone now heads into the last game of the season needing a win over Concordia on Saturday to hopefully make it into the last playoff spot. 

Game Highlights
• A minute into the game and Rochester is already on the board. A shot by Sammi Springer found the back of the net just past the outreached hand of Hope Steenwyk making it 1-0.
• Rochester has stayed on the aggressive as they had another corner kick in the 15th minute, but no opportunity came about.
• Cornerstone had a great opportunity in the 39th minute but the shot by Kailey Dodge went just right of the goal.
• In the 43rd minute, Ainsley Harris but a great shot on goal by the shot just missed wide.
• Rochester heads into halftime with the 1-0 lead
• Like the first half, Rochester scored early to start the half as Teagan Betzold found the back of the net, extending the Warrior lead 2-0 in the 47th minute.
• in the 54th minute, Amber Nicholson did it herself as she found the back of the net to cut the deficit 2-1. 
• Cornerstone had a great opportunity in the 59th minute with back-to-back corner kicks that banged around in the box but was not able to score on the opportunities.
• In the 63rd minute, a beautiful pass by Shelten Cruces found the foot of Tori Woodwyk to tie the game 2-2.
• Just three minutes later in the 66th minute, off a corner kick, Rochester was able to take the lead back after a goal by Isabella Ames making it 3-2.
• In the 75th minute, Cornerstone had a good opportunity off a corner kick but was not able to capitalize.
Amber Nicholson was inches away from tying the game 3-3 but her shot in the 86th minute hit the right post.
• The Golden Eagles showed late life in the final minute, but was not able to score, losing the game to Rochester 3-2.
