ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich – Cornerstone gets their first win of the season over UM-Dearborn 79-52. Cornerstone saw themselves down 24-17 at one point and outscored the Wolverines 62-28 from the two-minute point in the second half to the end of the game. It was an overall solid performance on offense for the Golden Eagles as they continue their road trip to UNOH on Saturday, November 12 for a 1 p.m.tipoff.
Game Highlights:
- Jaxi Long got the scoring started for the Golden Eagles draining a three off the Kennedy Helderop pass one-minute into the game.
- Stephanie Ainsworth ended the Cornerstone four-minute field goal drought with an and-one layup making it an 14-12 UM-Dearborn lead with 2:42 to go in quarter one.
- UM-Dearborn finished the first quarter on a 5-0 run extending their lead 19-12.
- Jaylee Long ended the UM-Dearborn run with a made three, with the assist by Kennedy Helderop to make it 19-15 early in quarter two.
- Cornerstone responded with a 9-0 that saw them take the lead after a made three by Jaylee Long and an Olivia Kubik layup made it 26-24 Golden Eagles with 3:30 to go in quarter two.
- After the UM-Dearborn timeout, Cornerstone continued their scoring run with another 9-0 run with baskets made by Stephanie Ainsworth, Mackenzie Stein, and a three made by Kennedy Helderop put the Golden Eagles up 35-24.
- Stephanie Ainsworth beat the buzzer before halftime with a layup to give Cornerstone the 37-25 advantage.
- Mackenzie Stein got the scoring started in the second half with a layup a minute into the third quarter giving Cornerstone the 41-25 lead.
- Jaylee Long has been her own 5-0 run after making a layup and three giving Cornerstone the 51-30 lead with three-minutes remaining in the third quarter.
- Cornerstone is tacking it on as Maddison Fulks drains a three and Olivia Kubik follows with an easy layup giving the Golden Eagles the 62-30 lead at the end of the third quarter.
- Audrey Dreyer made the first basket for the Golden Eagles in the fourth draining a three putting Cornerstone up 67-36.
- Skylar Scholten makes a layup and Kaitlyn Cain drains a three to give Cornerstone the 78-46 lead.
- Cornerstone wins their first game of the season and first WHAC game 79-52.
