FORT WAYNE, Ind. – For the first time in program history Cornerstone took a set from Indiana Tech, taking two on the road but falling 3-2 to the (7) Warriors. CU fell behind 2-0 but battled back in the next two sets to go even before Indiana Tech was able to take set five. The loss puts Cornerstone at 10-18, 1-11 WHAC on the year as they will return home on Wednesday for their second to last home game vs. Lawrence Tech at 7 p.m.
Game Recap – (7) Indiana Tech – 3 Cornerstone – 1 (26-28, 13-25, 25-22, 25-18, 11-15)
- After falling behind by three early, Cornerstone came back to tie set one at six with three straight points that saw a kill from Max Hernandez.
- A block from Patrick Voloch and Hubert Sliwinski gave CU the lead 8-7.
- Neither team would lead by more than one point until David Galanes recorded back-to-back kills to put CU on top by three, 22-19.
- Indiana Tech responded with a 3-0 run to tie it, and later would secure the first set on a kill from Dante Siracusa, 28-26.
- The Warriors carried momentum into set two, going on a 7-1 run to start things.
- A Golden Eagle attack error brought the IIT to lead to 12 at 19-7.
- Cornerstone saw a late block from Hubert Sliwinski and Patrick Voloch but it was too-little-too-late falling 25-13 in set two.
- The Golden Eagles came back to life in set three, getting out to a 6-2 advantage highlighted by a Britt Parkinson service ace.
- Max Hernandez joined the service ace parade to help increase the edge to 9-3.
- Indiana Tech responded with an 8-3 run to cut the CU lead to one at 15-14.
- Cornerstone refused to relinquish the lead, as Hubert Sliwinski gave the Golden Eagles the set at 25-22 with a kill as the team led from start to finish in set three.
- The first three points of set four were again scored by Cornerstone as Joshua Beaumont and Max Hernandez each recorded early kills.
- Indiana Tech would take their first lead at 12-11 on a Joey Hermes service ace.
- Cornerstone responded with a 7-1 run capped off by a big block from Hubert Sliwinski and Jacob Brinks to make it 18-13.
- The Golden Eagles carried the lead the remainder of set four, as a kill from Max Hernandez tied the match at two with a 25-18 set four victory.
- In CU's first five set match since early March, Patrick Voloch scored the first point of the fifth with a service ace.
- With the set tied at three, Indiana Tech went on a 4-0 run to take control highlighted by two kills from Daynte Stewart.
- Two Tech attack errors and a Hubert Sliwinski service ace put CU right back in the match trailing by one, 10-9.
- Cornerstone could not regain the lead however as Indiana Tech was able to pull away and take set five 15-11.
By the Numbers
2 – The Golden Eagles took two sets from the Warriors. In the fourth meeting all-time this is the first time CU has taken a set from Indiana Tech.
7 – Service aces were a key part of the match as both teams recorded seven on the day.

Cornerstone comes back home to take on Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, March 23 as they begin the final week of the regular season.
