GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – The Golden Eagles were on the road last week that saw games at Madonna and Lourdes. Cornerstone came out of the week going 2-0 with a win over Madonna 70-61. That game as a close contested game that was tied at halftime before Cornerstone was able to use their strong second half to win over the Crusaders. They then traveled to Lourdes and escaped Ohio with 68-66 win thanks to a game winning basket by
Jaxi Long and a game sealing block by
Stephanie Ainsworth. With those two wins, Cornerstone is now 11-9 (10-3) on the season as they face off against the top two teams in the conference this week. They host Indiana Tech on Wednesday, January 25 at 5:30 p.m. and then travel to Rochester on Saturday, January 28 for a 3 p.m. game.

This is an important week for Cornerstone as they are sitting tied for third in the WHAC standings with a 10-3 record as they face off against the top two teams in the conference this week. The Golden Eagles start their week off against #14 Indiana Tech who is sitting in first in the conference with an 11-1 record. They then travel to the number two team in Rochester on Saturday who has an 11-2 record in conference. Cornerstone will be looking to make a real splash in the conference standings.

Mackenzie Stien helped Cornerstone with a win over Madonna where she scored 17 points and grabbed a career high nine rebounds. After missing the second half of last year due to an injury, Mackenzie has been a key contributor to their success this year. In the close game against Lourdes, Freshman
Jaxi Long stepped up for the Golden Eagles where she scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half including the game winning shot to help Cornerstone to their 68-66 victory. We can't forget
Stephanie Ainsworth as she recorded yet another double-double with a 12 point 11 rebound performance against Lourdes.
Scouting #14 Indiana Tech
#14 Indiana Tech has been a force all season as they are coming into this game on a six-game winning streak and winning the last five games by a total of 25+ points. Indiana Tech could not miss in the first matchup against the Golden Eagles where they won by a score of 112-74. The warriors have five players averaging 10+ points and are led by Senior Kyra Whitaker who averages 18.3 points per-game. She had a team high 22 points on five made threes in the first meeting.
Scouting Rochester
Rochester comes into the week riding a six-game winning streak that has seen them take hold of the second seed in the conference. The last time these two teams met was a game that Cornerstone wishes they had back as Rochester won in double-overtime 117-107. The veteran team has seen contributions from everyone on the team, but they are led by Seniors Krystal Rice and Jacara Thompson. Rice averages 11.9 points and tallied 20 points as Thompson averages 10.9 points and tallied a team high 27 in the first matchup. Cornerstone will be looking to even the series on Saturday, January 28.
