Last Week Recap
The three-year old Golden Eagles program got off to another great start, going 3-0 for the second consecutive season with a trio of straight set victories. CU uniquely opened the season in WHAC play as they took on the first-year program Saint Mary's of the Woods and won both matches before sweeping UHSP in their first non-conference game.

Voloch nears 1,000
Sophomore setter Patrick Voloch is nearing the milestone of 1,000 career assists, needing just 55 more to be the first ever in CU program history to hit the mark. In his freshman season, Voloch recorded 869 assists a season ago as a freshman and has added 76 so far in his sophomore season.

Galanes Attack
A short-handed Golden Eagles team missing regular starters Hubert Sliwinski and Brunno Peres, relied on the offense of the Galanes brothers as David Galanes led the team with 31 kills and freshman Andrew Galanes added 25. The brother duo combined for 56 of the 101 kills for the team in the first three matches. Both athletes also hit above .300 and recorded three or more service aces.

Scouting Rival Aquinas
Rival Aquinas comes into the 2023 season ranked 14th in the NAIA. AQ took on Mount Vernon to open the year for a pair of games and split on the road, falling 3-1 on Friday night and winning 3-2 on Saturday evening. Julian Armendano is now in his senior season with the Saints, and he has been one of the best players in the WHAC since joining AQ as he earned First Team All-WHAC and Second Team NAIA All-American a season ago.

Non-Conference Record
The Golden Eagles have had great success in the non-conference season, going 10-8 in non-conference games a season ago despite an 11-21 overall record. This season, CU has already recorded one non-conference victory. This weekend, CU will play four non-conference opponents. Of the four opponents this weekend, Cornerstone has previously played them four times and gone 2-2 in those contests.
