GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The Golden Eagles returned to bowling action this weekend (Oct. 21) as Cornerstone hosted the CU Bowling Tourney at Station 300. The men's team finished in ninth place behind
Hunter Haldaman, who placed 22nd individually. The women's squad placed seventh with four bowlers finishing inside the top 50 on the individual leaderboard.
Men's Results:
Haldaman continued to play well this weekend with a total pin count of 984 over five games, averaging 196.8 pins per game. He bowled two games over 200 pins, including an impressive 265-pin total in his fourth game.
Cody O'Neil also put in a strong, consistent performance as he finished each of his five games between 167 and 187 pins. He totaled 882 pins over those five games for an average of 176.4 pins per game, earning himself a 48th-place individual finish.
Cornerstone finished the tournament with a total of 6,610 pins. Spring Arbor won the event with a total of 7,771 pins. Davenport (7,759 pins), Madonna (7,671 pins), Huntington (7,541 pins), and Aquinas (7,240 pins) rounded out the top five teams on the men's side.
Women's Results:
Nicole Will had her second consecutive top-20 performance as she finished 19th with a single game best of 221 pins in her second game. She bowled a 152, 221, 193, 159, and 138 over her five games to total 863 pins for an average of 172.6 pins per game.
Chloe Crick,
Francesca Bontomasi, and
Mackenzie Smith all finished inside the top 50 on the leaderboard. Crick (31st) finished with 785 pins, Bontomasi (39th) ended with 750 pins, and Smith (47th) had a four-game total of 657 pins.
Cornerstone ended the day with a total of 6,032 pins. Spring Arbor swept the event with a winning pin total of 6,607. Aquinas (6,443 pins), Madonna (6,356 pins), Huntington (6,216 pins), and Bethel (6,196 pins) were the top five teams at the tournament.
What's Next?
Both the men's and women's teams return to action on November 3rd and 4th for the first two WHAC meets of the season. The tournaments will be hosted at Westgate Bowl over in Comstock Park.
