FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles fell short on the road to the number one team in the conference: Indiana Tech, 73-45.
Olivia Kubik led the team with 11 points, making her presence known when she went on a hot streak in the fourth quarter.
Jaylee Long was also a highlight for the Eagles with eight points, in addition to both
Gracie Gortmaker and
Maddison Fulks contributing six. CU brought the energy in the fourth quarter scoring their most in a quarter to finish on a high note. The points off turnovers became a determining factor in the game where Indiana Tech outscored Cornerstone 13 to four points, forcing 16 Golden Eagle turnovers. The Eagles are now 4-4 overall and 3-2 in WHAC. With their second loss on the road, Cornerstone looks to get a win at 1 pm, home, vs Michigan Dearborn next Saturday, December 16th.

First Quarter:
- CU got its first bucket of the quarter at 9:19 with a three pointer by Jaxi Long.
- Jaylee Long hit a three at 7:44 to give CU a 6-2 lead over IT.
- IT answered with a 6-0 run to take back the lead: CU 6, IT 10.
- Stephanie Ainsworth slowed them down by draining two free throws with four minutes to go in the quarter.
- Abi Bandstra was the last to score for Cornerstone, going one of two from the free throw line.
- Cornerstone heads into the second quarter trailing Indiana Tech 18-9
Second Quarter:
- The Warriors came out strong advancing their lead with a 13-0 run to turn the score to 31-9.
- Maddison Fulks scores a layup to give CU the first bucket of the quarter with two minutes left.
- Gracie Gortmaker and Mackenzie Stien both score a pair to end the half; CU 15, IT 34.
- Indiana Tech outscores Cornerstone 16 - 6 for the quarter.
Third Quarter:
- The warriors start off by scoring a pair at the beginning of the quarter.
- CU answers with a 6-0 run with the duo of Olivia Kubik and Mackenzie Stien.
- Gracie Gortmaker goes back and forth with the Warriors scoring a pair for CU with a 1:16 left.
- The Golden Eagles end the quarter with a 24-point deficit to IT; CU 26, IT 50
Fourth Quarter:
- Maddison Fulks comes out strong hitting a jumper for CU with 9:24 to go.
- IT sinks the Golden Eagles hitting two threes, back-to-back.
- Olivia Kubik goes on a hot streak scoring six points in two minutes for CU.
- Abi Bandstra shows her aggression with a steal, leading to a basket by Laura Innerebner for CU at 1:58 to go.
- Jaylee Long goes 3-4 from the free throw line to conclude the scoring for CU.
- CU finishes behind IT with a score of 73-45.
By the Numbers:
16 – 6 Indiana Tech outscored Cornerstone 16-6 in the second quarter to take a 19-point lead into the second half.
