HIRAM, Ohio – The Golden Eagles got a solid tune up in against a pair of NCAA DIII opponents on Saturday afternoon in Ohio, defeating the host Hiram 33-18 and falling 43-8 to Heidelberg via multiple forfeits to protect health. Head Coach Chris Willaimson gave every starter one start before mixing in some bench athletes with only
Thade Radosa and
Jacob Nelson wrestling in two matches, as Radosa going 2-0. CU will now have a week to prepare for the WHAC Championships at Rochester starting Saturday at 9 a.m.

The day opened with strong performances from many of the Golden Eagle starters. Thomaz Zielinski got CU started with an early pin in his match at 125, followed by
Devan Johnson looking very solid with a major decision over a tough opponent in Will Brodbeck.
CU would go on to win every match they wrestled in the dual with Hiram, including a win for backup
Daniel Countryman earning a pin, and an overtime victory for
Sterling McLaughlin at the heavyweight.
Cornerstone won 33-18, with all 18 Hiram points coming off three Golden Eagle forfeits at the 141, 149, and 197 weight classes.

Jacob Nelson were the only two Golden Eagles to wrestle a second match in the dual with Heidelberg with CU forfeiting five weight classes to protect the team's health.
Trevor Marsman started his day off with a big win to start this dual with a shutout 20-0 tech fall over Cole Renier to give CU points early. After three consecutive forfeits,
Thade Radosa got his second win by decision 8-3.
The higher weight classes would not see Cornerstone get a victory as they fell 43-8 overall to an NCAA DIII opponent.
