GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles had a busy week where they played five total games, going 4-1. They started their week off against (14) Aquinas and lost in heartbreaking fashion. After getting up 2-0, Aquinas swept the next three sets to win 3-2. Cornerstone then played in a tournament hosted by Judson University and swept the weekend going 4-0. The Golden Eagles have gotten off to their best start in program history as they are now 7-1 on the young season. This week is no easy task as they face off against Siena Heights on Tuesday, February 7. They will then travel to (7) Indiana Tech on Friday, February 10 and finish the weekend at RV Lourdes on Saturday, February 11.

Patrick Voloch Milestone
Last week in the game against Aquinas,
Patrick Voloch recorded his 1000
th career assist in the five-set loss. Patrick is in his second year at Cornerstone, and he became the first player in men's volleyball program history to record 1000 assists. He is averaging 34.3 assists through the first eight games and set a new career high with 56 assists against Aquinas.
Galanes Brother's
Andrew Galanes and
David Galanes are one and two for the Golden Eagles in attacking with David leading the team with 79 total kills with little brother Andrew right behind him with 75. David set a new career high in kills as he recorded 25 in the five-set loss to Aquinas last week while the Freshman Andrew set a new career high of 17 against Aquinas as well. So far, the brothers have been a key piece to the early success of Cornerstone this year.
Ace up their Sleeve
Over the weekend, Cornerstone set a new program record with 20 service aces against Maranatha Baptist. They are currently sitting 6
th in the NAIA with a total of 56 service aces through the first eight games of the year and have only allowed 27 service aces on the receiving end.
Cade Meza leads the team with 11 aces on the year.
Scouting WHAC Opponents
This week is no easy week for the Golden Eagles as they face tough conference competition. Siena Heights is 2-2 on the young season and is led by Senior outside hitter Marc Arsenault and Senior libero Joudiel Poveymirow and will play them on Tuesday, February 7. They will then travel to (7) Indiana Tech on Friday, February 10 for a true road match. Indiana Tech has gotten off to a slow start as they are 2-4 on the season but did win in five sets against Siena Heights last weekend. They are led by Senior hitter Mason Milan. They round out their weekend traveling to #RV Lourdes on Saturday, February 11 to close out the tough week of competition. Lourdes is led by Junior outside hitter Eduardo Ayala who leads the team with 82 total kills.
