Four Game Win Streak
The Golden Eagles concluded a four-match winning streak, their longest since the 2019 season when they won five in a row on two separate occasions. CU defeated Kalamazoo College last week for their fourth straight win before falling 2-0 to Lourdes in the WHAC opener. Cornerstone comes into the week 4-2-0, and 0-1-0 WHAC on the year.
Stepping In and Stepping Up
Senior
Kelly Leep got the opportunity to start in net last week for the first time in her career for the injured
Morgan Scholten. She played the full 90 minutes against Kalamazoo College and got a shutout and the win in a huge game for CU. Leep made five saves in the 1-0 victory and now on the season has 123 minutes played with seven saves and a 2-0-0 record without allowing a goal.
Scouting Siena Heights
Siena Heights is off to an outstanding start in 2023 as they have yet to lose a game, going 5-0-3 overall. The Saints have been very successful of late under 23-year veteran head coach Scott Oliver, as they have won 10 or more games each of the last two seasons. The Saints are very successful on the defensive end, allowing just five goals in eight games. Keeper Caitlyn Harwood has allowed just four goals in seven starts and has a save percentage of .857 on the year. Offensively, SHU has scored 15 goals and seen 10 different players find the net.
Scouting Cleary
The Cougars have gotten off to a slow start, holding a 2-6-0 record in 2023. They have been successful at home however with both wins coming at Lake Trust Stadium. In Cleary's conference opener they fell 1-0 at Rochester as they will now take on Madonna and Cornerstone this week. Cleary has allowed 15 goals while only scoring 10. Eight of those 10 goals game in their two wins as they have been shutout in four of the six losses. Payton Zeh leads the team with three goals and two assists so far in 2023.
