GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Basketball is back in action this week with two more conference games. After going 1-1 last week, Cornerstone is looking to bounce back with a 2-0 week. They first travel to Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday, January 31 and then finish off the week back at home against Concordia on Saturday, February 3. The Golden Eagles sit at 10-9 (8-6) on the year.

Cornerstone opened the week facing off against Madonna, winning in an overtime thriller 85-81. Aaliyah McQueen had 41 of Madonna's points but the Golden Eagles powered through thanks to Mackenzie Stein's 21 points and Stephanie Ainsworths 21/11/8 performance. Women's Basketball then hosted #23 Indiana Tech, leading the entire first half before the Warriors caught fire in the second half, beating Cornerstone 58-48. Maddison Fulks led the way for Cornerstone on her Senior Day with 15 points.

It's the final four weeks of the basketball season as the Golden Eagles continue to be in a spot to host the first round of the conference championship. Cornerstone sits in fourth with an overall conference record of 8-6, having a one game lead over Rochester and Lawrence Tech who are both 7-7. Right now, Cornerstone holds the tiebreaker over Rochester, but Lawrence Tech holds it over Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles face off against 0-14 Michigan Dearborn and 12-2 Concordia in this week's conference games.
Scouting Michigan-Dearborn
Michigan-Dearborn comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 1-19 (0-14), losing their last 18 games. It has not been a fun season for the Wolverines as they are averaging 58 points per-game on 35% shooting, while opponents are scoring 77.3 points per-game on 40% shooting on the Wolverines. Cornerstone got the best of Michigan-Dearborn in their first matchup of the year 70-58, behind Olivia Kubik's 22 points and Stephanie Ainsworth's 16 points and 16 rebounds. The Wolverines are led by Maya Barakat who is averaging 14.9 points and 11.3 rebounds per-game on 44% shooting from the field.
Scouting Concordia
Concordia comes into this week with an overall record of 14-6 (12-2) with a matchup against Lourdes before facing off against the Golden Eagles. It has been a successful year for the Cardinals as they sit in third place in the conference with a four-game lead over Cornerstone. They are averaging 64 points per-game while shooting 37% while holding opponents to 57 points per-game on 37% shooting. Concordia got the best of Cornerstone in their first matchup, 60-54. Cornerstone struggled from the floor that game, shooting 31% with Jaxi Long leading the way with 17 points. The Cardinals are led by Abby Long who is averaging 16.3 points on 35% shooting from the field.
