GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Volleyball season is here and after a successful season last year going 19-13, men's volleyball has their eyes set on more. Cornerstone opens their season at home for five of the first six games, with the one away game being at Aquinas. The Golden Eagles face off against Trinity Christian on Friday, February 2 to kick off their season and then turn right back around to face #RV Judson on Saturday, February 3 to round out the first week of games.

Team Outlook
After not losing a single starter from last year, the Golden Eagles are poised to have a successful season. Cornerstone was voted to finish in fifth place in the WHAC standings in the coach's preseason poll, but now in their fourth year of competition, they are looking to do more than finish in fifth.
Andrew Galanes and
David Galanes return for another year after being one and two on the team in kills last season thanks to the setting of
Patrick Voloch.
Kyi Jagorin is in his second year at Cornerstone as the libero and the Golden Eagles are excited about transfer
Ernest Broaster to round out a solid attacking core. Men's Volleyball is energized and ready to get their season underway this weekend against Trinity Christian and Judson.
Scouting Trinity Christian
Trinity Christian comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 0-2. They opened the season with losses to Mount Vernon and Campbellsville, two teams that Cornerstone will play this season. Last season, the Trolls finished with an overall record of 17-11 losing in the second round of their conference tournament to Saint Xavier. Through the first two games, Trinity Christian is led by outside hitter Alex Costa who has 35 kills, thanks to the setting of Ryan Schmidt who has 85 assists.
Scouting #RV Judson
Judson comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 1-3, facing off against Aquinas first before coming to Cornerstone. It has been a tough opening schedule for Judson, facing the #6, #10, and #13 teams in the country, all resulting in losses for the Eagles. Last season, Judson finished with a record of 21-7, losing in their conference championship game to Saint Xavier. They return their lead attacker from last season in Elijah Gregg, who already leads the team with 56 kills on the season, thanks to the setting of Elijah Wrobel who has 129 assists on the year.
