Women's Soccer faces top two teams in the conference in back-to-back matches

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Soccer gears up for a two-match week starting off on the road then returning home to finish out the week. The Golden Eagles head to Siena Heights on Tuesday, October 22 before ending the week against a tough #4 Aquinas on Saturday, October 26. Women's Soccer has a record of 7-5-2 (5-3-1) on the season with three regular season matches remaining.

Last Week Recap 
The Golden Eagles went 2-0 last week and started it off against conference opponent Lawrence Tech. Cornerstone dominated most of the match and found a 3-0 shutout victory. Gracie Gortmaker found the back of the net twice in the match and Tori Woodwyk finished off the match on a high note for the Golden Eagles as she scored in the last few seconds of the match. Cornerstone then took on a depleted Defiance team who has struggled on the season and have yet to find their first victory. The Golden Eagles did not give the Yellow Jackets any mercy as they scored six goals in the match off 57 shots. The 6-0 victory was led by Jada VanNoord and Gracie Gortmaker who both scored two goals in the match. 
 
Scouting Siena Heights 
Siena Heights comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 10-2-4 (7-1-2) on the year, sitting in second place in the conference. The Saints are unbeaten in their last seven matches and have scored 19 goals in that span. Siena Heights is averaging 2.88 goals per-game off 22 shots per-game while holding their opponents to 1.13 goals per-game. The Saints are led by Lily Tiplady who has tallied 10 goals on the year. 
 
Scouting #4 Aquinas 
Aquinas comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 12-0 (9-0) on the year, sitting in first place in the conference.
