Women's Basketball travels to Indiana to face off against #22 Saint Francis and Goshen

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Basketball is back in action as they compete in the Ruth Gunden Memorial Classic hosted by Goshen on November 1 and 2. The Golden Eagles first face off against #22 Saint Francis before ending the tournament weekend against Goshen. Cornerstone will look to bounce back this week after opening their season with a loss to Spring Arbor.

Women's Basketball opened their season against a tough Spring Arbor team and played them close all game until late in the second half as a strong Cougar push saw them take game one 86-71. Jaxi Long led the way for Cornerstone with 17 points as Laura Innerebner helped with 12 off the bench.
 
Scouting Saint Francis
Saint Francis ended the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 18-11 falling in the second round of the Crossroads League Tournament. Cornerstone and Saint Francis faced off last year in a game that saw the Cougars pull ahead in the second half on their way to a 78-66 victory. Saint Francis also returned four All-League Players from last season in Isabella Gizzi, Chloe McKnight, Taylor Fordyce, and Ally Madden as the #22 team in the nation looks to have a deep 2024-25 postseason run.
 
Scouting Goshen
Goshen ended the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 9-20. The Golden Eagles got the best of Goshen in their matchup last year as four players scored in double figures to win 76-63. The Maple Leafs are a senior heavy team as 11 of their 14 players are seniors with six of their top players from last season returning for one last year together. Syanne Mohamed was named Second Team All-League in the Crossroads Preseason poll.
