SYLVANIA, Ohio. – Women's Soccer was faced with the fourth seed ranked Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal where the Golden Eagles offense stalled. Cornerstone was defeated in a narrow 1-0 victory against the Gray Wolves thanks to an early first half goal that made all the difference. Cornerstone was without their top goal scorer
Gracie Gortmaker which played a huge part in the success of the offense on the night. The Golden Eagles finished their season with a record of 8-7-3 (6-4-2) on the year.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 0 Lourdes - 1
First Half:
- The first few minutes of the match started slowly for both sides as they looked to settle into the contest.
- The Gray Wolves settled in first in the match as they found the back of the net in the 10th minute of the game with a goal from Kayla Dillinger.
- Morgan Scholten made her first save of the match in the 28th minute to keep the game at 1-0 as Cornerstone trailed.
- Cornerstone found their first shot of the match in the 38th minute from Tori Woodwyk but the shot went just wide.
- The halftime score finished at 1-0 in favor of Lourdes.
Second Half:
- The second half started with a shot from Lourdes that forced Morgan Scholten into her second save of the match.
- Brooke Harmsen looked to find the breakthrough for the Golden Eagles in the 53rd minute but was unable to find the back of the net as her shot went high.
- The next ten minutes of the match belonged to the Gray Wolves as Morgan Scholten was forced to make three more saves which kept the match at 1-0 in the 67th minute.
- Lourdes Karlie Heilman was handed a yellow card in the 74th minute which was the first of the match.
- Lourdes nearly doubled their lead late with a shot that just missed to the right of the goal in the 85th minute.
- The match finished with a score of 1-0 and ended the season for the Golden Eagles.
