GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Make that four straight sweeps to start the season for the Golden Eagles as they beat Aquinas 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-17). It has been a dominant start to their season as men's volleyball is clicking on all cylinders. Patrick Voloch leads the way with setting and Ernest Broaster alongside David Galanes lead the way in attacking. Cornerstone returns home to face off against Olivet Nazarene on Friday, February 16 at 7 p.m.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Aquinas – 0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-17)
 
First Set

• Cornerstone opened the first set on a 6-2 run thanks to kills from David Galanes and Ernest Broaster.
• Aquinas continues to struggle with the attacking of the Golden Eagles as another attack from David Galanes goes through the blockers for a kill, making it 10-5.
• Aquinas calls a timeout after Cornerstone goes on a 3-0 run to take a 15-7 lead after a Patrick Voloch service ace and an Ernest Broaster kill.
• It is all Cornerstone in the first set as they lead 18-10 late.
• Cornerstone ends the set with seven-straight points to take a set one, 25-11. David Galanes had two service aces during the run.

 
Second Set

• Like the first set, Cornerstone jumped out to an early 7-1 run after a kill from Andrew Galanes.
• A 4-0 run highlighted by three Aquinas errors extends the Golden Eagle lead to 12-5.
• David Galanes drops the hammer again for the Golden Eagles giving them a late 18-9 advantage in set two.
• Aquinas starts to get a little momentum, cutting slowly into the Golden Eagle lead as it is now 21-14.
• Patrick Voloch gets the kills, Hubert Sliwinski and Ernest Broaster get the block and the Golden Eagles win set two 25-16.

 
Third Set

• Cornerstone and Aquinas opened the third set in a battle trading points as the game is tied 5-5 after a Josiah Reif service ace.
• The Golden Eagles have used a 3-0 run to take a 12-10 lead over the Saints after a block from Hubert Sliwinski and Josiah Reif.
• Josiah Reif gets another service ace and Joshua Beaumont gets the kill as the Golden Eagles can taste a sweep, leading 18-14.
• Ernest Broaster gets back-to-back kills for the Golden Eagles as they lead 21-15.
• Josiah Reif ends the match with a kill to win set three 25-17.
