Men's Volleyball hosts Lawrence Tech on NPC Night to open WHAC play

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Volleyball is back in action this week with just one game, and it is their conference home opener against Lawrence Tech on Tuesday, February 6. During the game, Cornerstone will be honoring NorthPointe Christian staff, thanking them for all they do. Make sure to wear white and cheer with the NPC students.

Last Week Recap
The Golden Eagles opened their season last week against Trinity Christian and #RV Judson and came out with two sweeps. Cornerstone opened their season against Trinity Christian and rode the hot hand of Ernest Broaster who led the team in kills with 15, blocks with six, and service aces with four in his Cornerstone debut. Men's Volleyball then had a quick turnaround and hosted #RV Judson and came out with another victory. This time, David Galanes led the way for Cornerstone with 15 kills as Patrick Voloch had 37 assists.
 
Early Season Stats
Through the first two matches of the year for men's volleyball, they rank fifth in the nation with 17.4 points per-set, sixth in the nation with 12.67 kills per-set, third in the nation with a hitting percentage of .381, and fifth in the nation with 2.58 blocks per-set. It was a good start to a big season for the Golden Eagles.
 
NPC Night/White Out
For men's volleyball home WHAC opener, they are celebrating NorthPointe Christian staff members and students during the game. Wear white and join the NPC fan section in cheering loud as the Golden Eagles face off against Lawrence Tech.
 
Scouting Lawrence Tech
Lawrence Tech comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 1-0, opening their season with a win over Olivet College. Last season, Lawrence Tech got the best of Cornerstone in both of their matches, winning 3-1 twice. The Blue Devils finished fifth in the conference, two games better than Cornerstone and were projected to finish fourth, one ahead of the Golden Eagles in coaches preseason poll. Through their first match of the year, Lawrence Tech is being led by freshman Mario Cid in kills as the assists are almost even between Perdo Aguiar and Nathaniel Bownlee.
