Women's Soccer returns to action with matchups against Michigan-Dearborn and Cleary

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Soccer continues conference play with their first two-match week in over two weeks. The Golden Eagles will gear up to play Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday, September 25 before returning home to face off against Cleary on Saturday, September 28 to round out their week of conference matches.

Last Week Recap
Women's Soccer only had one conference match last week and that came against Indiana Tech where they finished in a 1-1 draw. The Warriors struck first in the 12th minute with a goal, and it wasn't until the second half where the Golden Eagles found the equalizer thanks to a penalty kick goal from Tori Woodwyk. Cornerstone out shot the Warriors 15-5 and 7-4 on goal but was unable to find the winning goal. The tie moved them to 3-2-2 on the year.
 
Scouting Michigan-Dearborn
Michigan-Dearborn comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with a 1-5-2 record, coming off a 5-0 loss against Siena Heights. It has been a rough start to the season for the Wolverines as they started 0-4-2 before getting their first victory of the year 6-2 against Concordia. In their five losses, UMD has been shut out in all those matches as they struggled to score on the season besides one match. They are allowing 2.25 goals per-match. Michigan-Dearborn is led by senior midfielder Arabi Rena who has four goals on the year.
 
Scouting Cleary
Cleary comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 2-4-2, with a matchup against Rochester Christian to open the week. The Cougars started their season 0-3-2 before winning two-straight before losing this past Saturday to Lourdes 1-0. Like Michigan-Dearborn, Cleary in their losses have struggled to score as they have been shutout in three of their four losses. In their victories, they have scored nine goals with seven coming against Defiance. They are allowing just over one goal per-match through eight matches as they are led by Mariah Krone and Cristina de Miguel with three goals apiece.
