Senior Night highlights Women's Basketballs week of action

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Basketball is back in action this week with two more games. The second half of the conference season is here as the Golden Eagles start to play teams they have already played once on the year. They will first travel to Rochester Christian on Wednesday, January 29 before returning home to face off against Madonna on Saturday, February 1. Women's Basketball will be honoring their five seniors: Stephanie Ainsworth, Emma Costen, Olivia Kubik, Mackenzie Goodwin, and Jaylee Long on Saturday against Madonna.

Last Week Recap
Women's Basketball went 1-1 last week to close the first half of conference play. In a tough back and forth battle, the Golden Eagles fell on the road to Aquinas 78-76 as they couldn't get that key stop down the stretch. They would then recover with a 93-52 victory over Michigan-Dearborn thanks to five different players scoring in double figures. Women's Basketball finds themselves with an overall record of 9-12 (8-5) with seven regular season games remaining.
 
Senior Spotlight
On Saturday, February 1 women's basketball will be honoring their five seniors for their careers as a Golden Eagle. Stephanie Ainsworth, Emma Costen, Olivia Kubik, Mackenzie Goodwin, and Jaylee Long will all be honored and celebrated on their careers as a women's basketball athlete. Come and support these girls and congratulate them on incredible Golden Eagle careers.
 
Scouting Rochester Christian
Rochester Christian comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 6-15 (5-8) on the year. It has been a rough go of late for the Warriors as they have lost four of their last five games, dropping in the conference standings. Cornerstone got the best of Rochester Christian in their first matchup of the year 74-57 behind Jaxi Long's 33 points. The Warriors are averaging around 64.2 points per-game while shooting 38.7% from the field as opponents are scoring 73 points per-game on 41.6% shooting from the field. They are led by Jacey Somers and her 11.8 points per-game.
 
Scouting Madonna
Madonna comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 12-9 (5-8) on the year as they face off against Lourdes before Cornerstone. Prior to their win on Saturday, the Crusaders had dropped their last six contests as they dropped in the conference standings. Cornerstone got the best of Madonna in their first go around on the year 71-59 thanks to Jaylee Long's 16 points. The Crusaders are scoring 66.3 points per-game on 40.5% shooing from the field with opponents scoring 62.8 points per-game on 37.4% from the field. They are led by Keairra Jennings and her 13 points per-game.
