Women's Soccer Generates Multiple Chances, Ultimately Fall to Lourdes 3-1

Box Score Sylvania, Ohio – Women's Soccer (2-9-2) visited Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio for a conference matchup on Saturday, October 11th. The Golden Eagles generated good opportunities but were held to just one goal in the loss. The Golden Eagles return home for another conference match as they host Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, October 15th at the CU Soccer Stadium with the game time set for 5 p.m.
 
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 1 Lourdes – 3
First Half:
  • Corinne McGlassion was tested early making two saves within the first five minutes of the match.
  • Lourdes fired off more shots but went wide in the 20th minute.
  • After a flurry of Golden Eagles substitutions, the Grey Wolves found the back of the net putting Cornerstone down 1-0.
  • The first half ended after a shot from Madeline Billings was saved by the Lourdes' keeper.
Second Half:
  • In the 47th minute, Lourdes grew their lead to 2-0.
  • Cornerstone responded with shots of their own coming off the feet of Brooke Harmsen, Audrey Johnson and Ally Merrihew.
  • After another goal from the Grey Wolves, Cornerstone quickly answered back with a goal from Kaitlynn Sal with an assist from Gracie Gortmaker which made it a 3-1 match in the 82nd minute.
