Women's Soccer hits the road for two conference matchups

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Soccer gears up for two road WHAC matchups this week. The Golden Eagles kick off their week in Adrian, Mich. to face off against Siena Heights on Wednesday, October 8th before ending the week in Sylvania, Ohio against Lourdes on Saturday, October 11th. Women's Soccer has a record of 2-7-2 (1-3-1) on the season with six regular season matches remaining.

Last Week Recap 
The Golden Eagles had two home matches last week and finished the week 0-1-1. Cornerstone started off their week at home against Rochester Christian. Audrey Johnson opened the scoring with a goal in the sixth minute and was assisted by Gracie Gortmaker which gave CU an early 1-0 lead. Just before the first half ended, RCU evened the match at 1-1. Despite many scoring opportunities in the second half, the match ended in a draw with a final score of 1-1. Cornerstone then took on #23 ranked University of Northwestern Ohio who were coming off an 18-0 win vs. Defiance. Despite the Golden Eagles holding the Racers scoreless through the first half, the #23 ranked team in country inevitably scored in the 67th and 74th minute to take down Cornerstone 2-0.
 
Scouting Siena Heights
Siena Heights comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 5-4-3 (3-1-1) on the year, sitting in fifth place in the conference just ahead of Lawrence Tech. The Saints are averaging 1.58 goals per-game and allowing 0.83 goals per-game. The Saints are coming off back-to-back wins 2-0 and will look to make it three in a row against the Golden Eagles. 
 
Scouting Lourdes 
Lourdes comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 7-1 (5-0) on the year, sitting in first place in the conference. The Gray Wolves are on a six-game win streak and are currently undefeated at home with a perfect 3-0 record. Lourdes is averaging 2.25 goals per-game and only allowing 0.75 goals per-game. The Gray Wolves goalkeeper Samarah Arendsen has locked down the goal this season with 29 saves and a 0.79 goals against average, the Golden Eagles will look to break out on offense and disrupt those numbers.
