Grand Rapids, Mich. – Women's Basketball returned to the Mol Arena for another WHAC matchup against the Yellow Jackets of Defiance College. The first half saw Cornerstone find their footing as they went 20-33 from the field and held the lead 55-21 at the end of the second quarter. The second half saw Cornerstone put up 36 more points and pull off a strong home performance before Thanksgiving break. The Golden Eagles took the win 91-56. The Golden Eagles will open up the December schedule with a game against Madonna University in Livonia, Mich. at 5:30 p.m. on the 3rd of December.

First Quarter

The first points for Cornerstone happened a minute and a half into play with a successful mid-range jump shot by Laura Innerebner. Cornerstone were down 6-2.

Abby Hall made Cornerstone's first successful three-pointer of the night to give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game 13-11 with just over four minutes left in the first quarter.

The first Jaxi Long three-pointer saw the game tied 16-16 right before the first Golden Eagles timeout.

The layup by Jaxi Long from a nice pass by Gracie Gortmaker saw Cornerstone to a 20-18 lead late in the first quarter.

The first quarter came to its close with the Golden Eagles on top of Defiance 26-20.

Second Quarter

The second quarter was slow for both teams, as it remained free of points until one minute in with a layup made by Julie Ashbaugh to keep Cornerstone up 28-20.

Another successful three-pointer by Jaxi Long extended the Cornerstone lead to 13 points 33-20 with just under eight minutes left to go in the half.

Cornerstone continued to extend their lead as another three-pointer fell for Jaxi Long to make it 36-20 for Cornerstone.

The Golden Eagles lead grew to 30 points, as Jaxi Long made another layup to make the score 51-21.

Two more points in the paint finished off the half for Cornerstone as Kaila Aston made it 55-21 at the end of the second quarter.

Third Quarter

The third quarter got underway with points from the charity stripe by Defiance. Cornerstone still was ahead 55-23.

A steal and a layup by Abby Hall kept the lead for Cornerstone strong 59-23.

The 60-point mark was broken with about eight minutes left in the third quarter, as Abby Hall hit two free-throws to make it 61-25.

After connecting about eight passes in a row, Jaxi Long made the contested jumper to continue the scoring for Cornerstone as they led 67-28.

Gracie Gortmaker sent the defender on a roadtrip, as she took the ball to the basket for another good layup. Defiance called another timeout as the Golden Eagles held strong 71-30.

Kaila Aston made her fifth point of the night with a free throw that kept the Golden Eagles well on top 80-33 at the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The final quarter began with an Abby Hall three-pointer to extend the lead to 50, 83-33.

The Yellow Jackets showed some energy as the fourth quarter continued. They jumped to 43 points with an eight point run. The Golden Eagles were still up 87-43.

Ellie Neuhaus broke the 90 point mark with a well-taken jumper to make it 91-45 for Cornerstone.

Cornerstone held the lead and grabbed the win 91-56.
