Women’s Basketball prepares to host Concordia in the first round of the WHAC Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Basketball looks to gear up for a deep postseason run as they host the first round of the WHAC Tournament coming in at the #4 seed. The Ladies will host Concordia on Wednesday, February 26 inside Mol Arena for a massive showdown to start postseason play.

WHAC Outlook
Women's Basketball finished the season with an overall record of 15-13 (14-6 WHAC) on the year as they secured the #4 seed headed into the WHAC Tournament. Looking past the first-round matchup the Golden Eagles could be headed into a regular season finale rematch against Indiana Tech assuming both teams secure victories on their home floors. 
 
Scouting Concordia
Concordia comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 14-14 (12-8) on the season. Abby Long continues to lead the Cardinals as she averages 14.1 points per-game. The Golden Eagles were presented with this exact matchup earlier in mid-January where they suffered an 84-69 loss to the Cardinals. The Ladies will need to put this result behind them as they get another shot at Concordia in this massive rematch.
 
Last Week Recap
Women's Basketball finished last week 1-1 to close out their regular season play. The Golden Eagles faced Aquinas midweek where they came away with a 55-40 victory. Cornerstone held the Saints to their lowest total points of the season thanks to their 18 forced turnovers in the game. Jaxi Long led the way with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Mackenzie Goodwin, Jaylee Long, and Julie Ashbaugh all chipped in nine points as well to secure the victory.
 
In the second matchup of the week the Golden Eagles traveled to #RV Indiana Tech which closed out their regular season play. The Golden Eagles hung around for the first half but lost momentum as the Warriors ran away with a 72-57 win. Olivia Kubik scored 13 points to pace the Golden Eagles with Mackenzie Goodwin right behind her with 10 points and six steals.
