DAVENPORT, Iowa – It was a bright and early morning for Softball as they were right back in action with two more games in the dome. They opened the day by hanging on to a victory over College of Saint Mary 5-4 thanks to
Morgan Jenkins three hits and three RBIs. They would later face off against Viterbo and run rule them 11-3 as the offensive exploded late for the victory. Softball finishes the weekend 4-0 as they return back to Michigan to prepare for their spring break trip to Florida starting on March 2.
Game One Recap: Cornerstone – 5 College of Saint Mary – 4
- A one out walk from Morgan Jenkins led to an RBI double by Alexis Ashbay to give Cornerstone the early 1-0 lead after the first inning.
- After Maddy Chatman led off the inning with a walk, Morgan Jenkins brought her home with a triple into right center to make it a 2-0 CU advantage. Two batters later, Anna Griffioen hit a triple of her own as the Golden Eagles lead 3-0 after the top of the third.
- Cornerstone found a little tow out rally as a single from Moriah Sprague loaded the bases for Morgan Jenkins. Jenkins would later come through with a two RBI single into right field to extend CU's lead 5-0 after the fourth inning.
- After two quick outs in the bottom of the fourth, back-to-back errors by the Golden Eagles gave Saint Mary their first run of the game. The errors continued to haunt CU as a single brought in another run to make it 5-2 after the fourth.
- Saint Mary used a small rally in the fifth inning to scrape another run across as they continued to chip away at Cornerstone's lead, 5-3 after the fifth inning.
- The leadoff single for Saint Mary would come around to score on a double as Allie Lubben would strand the runner on second to keep Cornerstone in the lead 5-4 after the sixth inning.
- Saint Mary led off the bottom of the seventh with a hit by pitch and would later reach second on wild pitch with one out. A huge defensive play by Emma Boonstra led to the lead runner being thrown out at third as Cornerstone is one out away from a victory.Allie Lubben would later induce a ground ball to short as the Golden Eagles win 5-4 over Saint Mary.
Game Two Recap: Cornerstone – 11 Viterbo – 3
- Moriah Sprague opened the bottom of the first with a leadoff double but would later get thrown out at third on a fielder's choice. With a two-out rally, Gabby Mecca singled in a run to give Cornerstone an early 1-0 lead.
- Viterbo had runners on first and second with two outs and would drive in a run on a double to tie the game at one. Next batter would single in two more to take a 3-1 advantage over the Golden Eagles after the top of the second.
- Cornerstone used a two-out rally of their own in the bottom of the second as Morgan Jenkins would double in a run to make it 3-2. A wild pitch and two batters later, Sam Timmer gave the Golden Eagles a 4-3 lead after the second.
- McKenna Gilde worked around a second and third jam to keep the Golden Eagles in the lead after the top of the third.
- Paige Liddell would come through with two outs in the bottom of the fifth with a single into right field to extend Cornerstone's lead 5-3.
- After the first two batters reached in the bottom of the sixth, Cornerstone would scrape another run across thanks to a Viterbo error to make it 6-3. The inning continued as Sam Timmer and Dylan Holmes would single in more runs as the Golden Eagles continued to rally in the bottom of the sixth.
- Maddy Chatman walked off the game for the Golden Eagles with a two RBI double into left center to give Cornerstone the run-rule victory over Viterbo 11-3.

Softball will travel to Florida to play Hannibal-LaGrange and Olivet Nazarene to open their spring break trip on Sunday, March 2, starting at 6:30 p.m.
