GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It is a big week ahead for the men's volleyball team as they host four matches, two against top three teams in the nation. They are also honoring their seniors Friday night! The Golden Eagles open the week with a conference matchup against Aquinas on Tuesday, March 18 before their final conference matchup of the week on Friday, March 21 against #3 Lawrence Tech. They then host a one-day tournament on Saturday, March 22 as they take on #2 Saint Xavier and Oakland City. Men's Volleyball sits with a 15-4 record on the year.

Last Week Recap
The Golden Eagles returned from spring break with a three-match week. They opened the week with a 3-0 sweep of conference foe, Goshen.
Andrew Galanes led the way with 16.5 total points. Men's Volleyball would then later travel to Chicago for a one-day tournament. They opened with 3-1 loss to Governors State in a game the Golden Eagles didn't look themselves. They would later recover with a 3-0 sweep of Jamestown to finish the week 2-1.

Looking at Aquinas
Aquinas comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 6-13 (1-7) on the year. Cornerstone got the best of the Saints in the beginning of the year in a 3-0 sweep over at Aquinas. On the year, Aquinas is averaging 8.7 kills per-set while hitting .102. They are also averaging 8.4 digs and 1.6 blocks per-set on defense. The Saints are led by Connor Staats and his 241 kills while being set by Julian Fira.
Looking at Lawrence Tech
Lawrence Tech comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 14-1 (6-0) on the year with a matchup against Siena Heights before Cornerstone. The Blue Devils have dominated all season until this past weekend where they dropped their first match of the year to Campbellsville. Lawrence Tech did get the best of the Golden Eagles in their first matchup 3-1 in a game that saw them do the small things better. The third ranked team in the nation is averaging 12.24 kills per-set while hitting .295. They are also averaging 9.2 digs as well as 2.49 blocks per-set. They are led by Nestor Addah and his 177 kills while being set by Pedro Aguiar.
Looking at Saint Xavier
Saint Xavier comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with a perfect record of 16-0, with a matchup against Calumet before Cornerstone. The number two ranked team in the nation has dominated all year, earning sweeps in 12 of their 16 matches. The Cougars are averaging 12.9 kills per-set while hitting .326, ranking first in the nation at 17.7 points per-set. They also average 10.2 digs and 2.6 blocks per-set. They are led by Matt Pennala and his 178 kills while being set by Cameron Daniels.
Looking at Oakland City
Oakland City comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 12-5 on the year with two matches before Cornerstone on Saturday. The Mighty Oaks are currently on a five-match win streak in which they have gone five sets, three times. On the year they are averaging 11.23 kills per-set while hitting .236. They are also averaging 9.89 digs and 2.52 blocks per-set. They are led by Hazem Nabil and his 206 kills while being set by Danilo Negrao.
