Men's Volleyball returns to action with two road conference matches

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Volleyball returns to action this week as six regular season games remain on the schedule. The Golden Eagles travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene for a match on Friday, March 28 before heading to Indiana Tech on Saturday, March 29 to round out their play for the week. Men's Volleyball sits tied for second in the conference with Indiana Tech with an overall conference record of 8-2.

Last Week Recap
Men's Volleyball had a busy week last week where they competed in four home matches. They opened the week with an easy 3-0 sweep of Aquinas before falling in their next two to #4 Lawrence Tech 3-1 and #2 Saint Xavier 3-1, back-to-back days. They would then go on to finish the weekend with a 3-1 victory over #RV Oakland City. Men's Volleyball currently sits with an overall record of 17-6 on the year.
 
Looking at Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon Nazarene comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 4-16 (2-10) on the year. It has continued to be a struggle for the Cougars this year with their two conference wins after winning 10 last season. Cornerstone got the best of Mount Vernon in their first matchup of the year 3-0 behind Ernest Broaster's 12 kills. On the year, the Cougars are averaging 8.69 kills per-set while hitting .093. They are also averaging 8.69 digs and 1.62 blocks per-set to round out their defense. They are led by Ethan Cline and his 140 kills on the year.
 
Looking at Indiana Tech
Indiana Tech comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 10-9 (9-2) with a matchup against Aquinas before Cornerstone. After getting off to a slow start, Indiana Tech has used a strong conference season to sit tied for second with the Golden Eagles with just two losses. Cornerstone got the best of the Warriors in their first match of the year 3-0 behind Ernest Broaster's 12 kills and six aces. On the year, Indiana Tech is averaging 10.8 kills per-set while hitting .212. On defense they are averaging 10.2 digs and 1.9 blocks per-set. They are led by Dylan Poore and his 155 kills on the year.
