Men's Volleyballl dominates Siena Heights to open their weekend getaway

ADRIAN, Mich. – Men's Volleyball opened their final weekend of the regular season with a 3-0 sweep over Siena Heights thanks to a strong hitting performance. The Golden Eagles collected 46 kills on the night while hitting .369 behind 12 kills from Ernest Broaster and David Galanes. Men's Volleyball improves to 22-6 (13-2) on the year as they look to take down #RV Lourdes tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. for the final game of the regular season.
 
Game Recap – #11 Cornerstone – 3 Siena Heights – 0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-19)
 
First Set: Cornerstone – 25 Siena Heights – 22
  • Cornerstone jumped out to an early 4-2 lead thanks a kill from Joshua Beaumont and Andrew Galanes.
  • After a quick start, the Golden Eagles struggled as Siena Heights went on a 7-1 run to take a 10-6 advantage over Cornerstone.
  • Cornerstone has started to chip away as back-to-back kills from Andrew Galanes made it 12-11 Siena Heights.
  • The momentum stayed on the Golden Eagle side as a block from Joshua Beaumont and Andrew Galanes made it 15-13 in favor of Cornerstone.
  • Siena Heights wouldn't back down as they used a 4-0 run to retake the lead over the Golden Eagles 18-17 late.
  • Cornerstone would respond with a 4-1 run of their own to take a 21-19 advantage taking advantage of Siena Heights errors.
  • Joshua Beaumont and Ernest Broaster put the final touches on the first set with back-to-back kills to win set one 25-22.
 
Second Set: Cornerstone – 25 Siena Heights - 20
  • Cornerstone used a 3-0 run to open the second set, highlighted by a block from David Galanes and Joshua Beaumont.
  • The run continued early for the Golden Eagles as an ace from David Galanes and a kill from Joshua Beaumont made it 7-1 Cornerstone.
  • The Golden Eagles continued to lead early as a kill from David Galanes made it 14-7.
  • Siena Heights continued to stick around as a quick two-points made it 17-15 Cornerstone.
  • The Golden Eagles would respond with a 4-1 run to extend their lead 21-16 after a kill from Ernest Broaster.
  • Siena Heights would hit one out to help Cornerstone take the second set 25-20.
 
Third Set: Cornerstone – 25 Siena Heights - 19
  • Siena Heights has jumped out to a 5-1 lead to open the third set thanks to a few kills.
  • Cornerstone would fight their way back as a 5-1 run of their own tied the set at six after a block from Hubert Sliwinski and Patrick Voloch.
  • It has continued to go back-and-forth as both teams continued to collect kills as one from Siena Heights tied it at 11.
  • The Golden Eagles have found some momentum as a 4-1 run saw them take a 15-12 lead after kills from Ernest Broaster and Andrew Galanes.
  • Siena Heights would retake the lead thanks to a 5-1 run to make it 17-16 on three straight Golden Eagle errors.
  • Cornerstone wouldn't take kindly to Siena Heights run as they would go on a 4-0 run to make it 20-17.
  • It continued to be all Golden Eagles late as they would close out the third set with three straight points thanks to kills from David Galanes and Joshua Beaumont to win it 25-19.
