Grand Rapids, Mich. – Men's Volleyball drops their first conference match in three sets to #RV Bethel.
Matthew True led the Golden Eagles while also recording three aces.
Andrew Galanes had 15 assists paired with seven kills. Cornerstone hits the road for the first time this season as they had to Illinois to face #3 St. Thomas (Fla.) and #RV Governors State on Saturday, January 31st.

First Set: Cornerstone – 25 Bethel – 27
- The match began with back-to-back attack errors by the Golden Eagles to help the Pilots take an early 4-2 lead.
- Cornerstone battled back as Andrew Galanes got back-to-back kills and a service ace by Matthew True tied the first set at six.
- A rally by Bethel put them up 12-9 after a flurry of blocks by the Pilots.
- JeQuarri Shannon helped bring CU within four as he recorded a block and kills followed by an ace from Matthew True.
- A kill by Ryder Roberts paired with an ace from Andrew Galanes forced the Pilots to take a timeout as Cornerstone tied the set at 20.
- Three straight points for Cornerstone made it a 24-24 tie highlighted by an ace from Ethan Walker.
- Bethel took the first set 27-25 off two straight errors by CU.
Second Set: Cornerstone – 16 Bethel– 25
- The second set started with both teams trading points to make it 5-5.
- Bethel then went on a 5-0 run to take a 10-5 lead.
- The Golden Eagles got back within one as the Pilots had back-to-back attack errors and Mitchell Carrera had an ace.
- The Pilots retook a six-point lead as Cornerstone committed three straight errors.

Third Set: Cornerstone – 14 Bethel – 25
- The third set began with both teams going back and forth with service errors to tie the set at four.
- Multipole errors by Cornerstone aided Bethel in taking an 12-6 lead.
- JeQuarri Shannon finishes off a big kill while the Pilots follow with a service error to help CU cut the lead to eight.
- Bethel takes the set 25-14 and the match 3-0 off back-to-back kills by the Pilots.
